Two stonecutters were engaged in similar activity. Asked
what they were doing, one answered, "I'm squaring up this block of stone."
The other replied, "I'm building a cathedral." Clearly what counts
is not so much what work a person does, but what he perceives he is doing
it for.

Who? I have been a wife for 35 years, a mother for 31 years, with three children, and a teacher in a public school for 17 years. I am a painter, writer, bird lover, and a nature addict. I am a thinker and a doer, a technology junkie and an old-fashioned believer in the inevitability of eventual balance in everything.
What? I teach English, journalism, and technology classes to high school students and technology integration to teachers. I have been a student for 27 years of my life. I have taught at the university level and realized a passion to expand into a full-time position there.
When? In 2008, I plan to finish my doctorate studies with New Mexico State University and have a degree in Curriculum and Instruction, with an emphasis on Learning Technologies.
Where? I live in Playas, New Mexico, and teach in Animas, 20 miles away, a very isolated, rural community in the extreme southwestern corner of the state. The nearest mall is 130 miles away, the nearest airports are El Paso, Texas or Tucson, Arizona--each over 150 miles away. Just to get to McDonald's calls for a 35 mile drive!
Why? My web site serves as a professional portfolio, a resource for teachers and students, and as a starting point for investigation. I created it to reach parents, students, and other teachers. When I moved from my fourth grade position of 12 years to a high school position, I scrapped the old site and began a more streamlined one.
