School General Information

Welcome to the 2008-2009 school year!

Welcome!

As you know, high school is welcoming the 7th and 8th graders into the building. We have consolidated to make better use of resources. When my two oldest children attended Animas, they moved from 6th grade right into high school. My third child was the first group that actually had a Middle School. So, things tend to cycle.

I am excited to be teaching English Literature and Language Arts to 7th, 8th, 9th, and 12 graders. English is my first passion and I love to teach and learn it! I also teach a rotation in the Literacy/Math group for 7th and 8th graders.

Resources

Individual Class Lesson plans are on each page under Student Resources

School Involvement

I am the sponsor for Student Council, the school yearbook, and the Freshman class.

Other Involvements

I have taught online and face-to-face graduate level courses in technology and education for the Regional Educational Technology Assistance program (RETA) based at NMSU and have taught many classes for the Bootheel Consortium (training teachers to integrate technology).

I have taught four graduate level courses for WNMU in teaching with technology.

I am currently finished with coursework to earn my PhD in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on educational technology. My dissertation will focus on reflective teaching and I hope to graduate in May of 2009.

Communication

I try to be available most of the time via e-mail. All students have school e-mail (their own address). They can go to the school site and click on Check Email any time.

If you need to contact me, the e-mail link at the top of the page will access me from your own computer, or e-mail from anywhere to dvowell@animask12.net

Also, you can access me via cell phone, 575.644.7526. I welcome comments, suggestions, and questions!
