What teaching and learning experiences will equip students to demonstrate the targeted understanding?

• Discuss area (introductory activities in lesson)
• Review the formula to find area
• Introduce essential questions, key terms, format of unit (station rotation), and expectations and assessment (rubric)
• Divide class into cooperative groups
• Discuss or review procedures for handling equipment, station and group rules, and time limits
• Have students work through stations to solve the problems in each
• Give feedback on process or product while students work
• Conclude unit with presentation time (students go over results and show products)
• Conduct follow-up extension activities to broaden knowledge and assess understanding.
